Hongqiao Flower Market

For the past couple days, the temperature, and more importantly, the humidity has dropped!  Hallelujah!  I felt energized, so yesterday I went to the Hongqiao Flower Market. It is such an uplifting location, all filled with gorgeous flowers at reasonable prices and it smells so lovely!  It was a Thursday and surprisingly pretty empty.  It's much busier on the weekends.  Along with many different types of flowers, you can also buy baby turtles, fish, and huge crickets (sadly stuck in little tiny cages).  There is also a 2nd building that has home decorations and kitchenware.  There is also 2 toy shops and a stationary store where I can get birthday cards written in English.

Crickets:
Baby puffer fish:
Poor little froggies!  Baby albino frogs injected with neon dye (I think!):

I came home with a small pot of orchids for my front entry (4 stems and the pot for 130rmb, approx $21 USD):

The kids loved the sensitive plants that I bought for them (10 rmb each, approx. $1.60 USD):
I also got a medium-sized  flowering plant for outside (25 rmb).  I just want to say that I'm pretty sure that people bargain at the Flower Market, so my prices may be stupid "laowai" prices.  But I think the prices are reasonable and don't sound inflated to me, so I don't bother to bargain.  I know some people will hate to hear that I don't haggle there, but some times it's really not worth the hassle!

Hello!

Hello!
I finally decided to try blogging once again.  Hope this time it sticks!  A  little about me: I grew up in California.  Spent 3 years living in England, and now we are living in Shanghai, China. After China, who knows?

I am married to a wonderful and hard-working husband.  We have 3 kids and 1 cat.  My cat is also a world traveler, and has been dragged to England and China with us!

I decided to start a blog so that I can share some photos of daily life stuff that I don't want to forget about during my adventures abroad.  I hope that you will follow me along my journey!
